Alpha Revolver Games

Small Update

The last few days I have been working on our new idea that we plan to reveal early next week. This is part of the game that we feel will add an extra dimension to our game. Malcolm has returned home from his holiday and Garry will return home tomorrow. We will likely be discussing, at that point, if we still plan to take some testing public and will probably be spending our Monday doing so. Hopefully after that we can reveal how it went, demo our mini game and show off our new addition.

Stay tuned folks!

Cheers,

Darius

New Addition to the Game

If you read our previous posts you might remember that we discussed the idea of an additional feature we could put into the game. Whilst we still haven’t revealed it yet, and we wont today. We do want to let you know that its being worked on. It’s an addition that we think will add a little value to the game. So on that note Malcolm has been working on the template. Yesterday Malcolm managed to finish the Map User Interface and score system screen. I worked on PR and Alpha Revolver Games based stuff. Alex is beginning to implement the assets Malcolm has given him as well as adjust the mini game difficulty for a few levels for us to test with the public.

Garry will be joining our testing session when we meet up as well as discussing the Music & SFX. It will be good to show Garry what we have as music is quickly becoming something we need to think about implementing.

Cheers,

Darius

The Powers

The enemy pets are now complete as well as the first background for the first level. Malcolm is now working on the ability powers and then soon on to the User Interface and other backgrounds. Most of my work today consisted on PR as most of the Design is solidified. Alex has added all the pets into the game and fixed some issues. We managed to see it today and we are really proud with the progress. We have a meeting tomorrow and Garry will be joining us to start talking a bit more about music & SFX and to see how the game is going. We will be taking the mini game and the base game to the public for testing very soon.

Small Update 2

We have a few more enemies finished and only one or two left to go. By the start of next week we should have a background ready for our demonstration level and some User Interface then hopefully a video to follow soon after. Malcolm’s enemies are looking great and we can’t wait to show you! Alex has been hard at work on ironing out issues and adding more of the features we need in the game. Most of my effort right now is just making sure everything stays in sync and prepping the next video for the mini game along with some PR.

Stay Tune Folks!

Small Update

Just a small update today. This morning I managed to check through the newest version that Alex stuck up last night after the meeting. Its coming along well and he has implemented the HP and hit changes we had discussed prior. He’s also given us a tool to set speeds and damages of enemies so we can round it out a bit more. I also completed some PR work.

Malcolm is currently working on the enemy pets for the mini game fleshing out some concept work and ideas. After the enemies are completed with animations we can begin work on the first level background, the abilities and then tidy up the spawn system before releasing a video.

Stay tuned folks!

Mini Game map

The mini games is doing great, Alex has come on well with the programming. We nearly have all enemies in, health points, scoring system. He has even implemented Malcolm’s Air Balloon into the mini game with the health synced up to the damage states. This has all been implemented into the prototype level.

The game now needs to be split up into levels with appropriate difficulty and the correct enemies at the correct points in the game. All the levels then need to be synced up to our map system which is essentially the player choosing which path or level they want to complete before proceeding.

Malcolm has been hard at work on the map for the mini game which we will reveal below. This map is without the additional user interface showing you the level nodes and paths you can take. Let us know what you think.

I have been preparing our PR package and doing some PR work today and making sure everything is up to scratch in a design sense. Tonight we will be having our weekly meeting to discuss the mini game moving forward.

The Map

Today has been quite productive. I managed to sort some things out on the company side of things, do some PR work and make changes to the design document as discussed at yesterdays meeting. Malcolm has been working on making the map for the base game now that the last area, at least for the launch of the game. This replaces the place holder image we previously had and you can see an image of it below. The map will get additional tweaking as we start to add dynamics.

Alex keeps implementing more into the game. Nearly all the enemies are ready albeit some tweaking. We still have plenty to do and all the art needs to be made and implemented.

Enjoy guys and any feedback, suggestions or shares would be appreciated!

Our First Mini Game: News

Hi guys, I am going to be discussing a little about the first mini game which has a working title ” Air Balloon Mini Game”. Now the name is misleading because we plan to have more than just an Air balloon in the mini game.

The Concept (Subject to Change)

The pets will be in a vehicle either a Hot Air Balloon, Zeppelin, Airplane or Speed boat. Each pet type has a special ability such as fire wall, water shield, wind blast and rock thrower.

The idea is that the player is to protect the balloon from damage against enemies that are planning to attack the vehicle with the pet inside. We have multiple enemies that have different abilities. The player must swipe the enemies out of the way and ensure they don’t attack the vehicle as it has limited health and to get it to the end of the level. Some levels will have hazards in relation to its area type.

The levels are made up of the areas we have in game. The player has an end point they must reach and they can choose which way they would like to go. We have risk and reward for certain paths that are taken. The game is designed to be re-playable, so players can choose different paths next time they play in order to complete all the levels, we also have a star rating system which will net the player a special award if they complete all levels with the highest star level.

Another mode we would like to confirm is survival mode, which is essentially a level which is never ending and gets progressively harder with all types of enemies and area hazards added in. If you manage to beat our set score then you can win in game prizes.

We have the damage state ready for one of the vehicles we have in the game. As at current we only have programmer art in the game. The art you see is still a work in progress and we used the background of the Air area for demonstration purposes. The background doesn’t represent the mini game art.

Thanks for tuning in,

Air Area : The floating islands

Malcolm has finished the final area! The Air area first perspective screenshot is available below! The initial plan for release is to have four areas in the game. However based on time we may add additional areas prior to release. It is our intention to add additional content after release which includes but not limited to additional areas, pets, mini games, items and features.

Now the areas are finished, Malcolm will be working between art on the mini games, additional pets and the map. I drew up the concept of our new collectible item idea and Alex is working on the programming of the mini game and will be implementing the new areas into the game.

Hope you like our new area! Feedback, comments and suggestions are always appreciated!

Water Area makes a splash!

Hey gals and guys,

We have a new background to show off today which is for the water area which we will post below. Malcolm has finally finished the area and here is the first perspective. We will share further perspectives in the future. The air area is still being worked on! I reassessed some of the design for the mini game and added a few additional features to make sure the design is solid.

Alex is still working hard on the programming side of the mini game and continues to take the assets for the main game and implement them in. We should be scheduling a meeting with Garry soon to have a music meeting and start our testing phase.

Hope you like our first perspective of the new area, more perspectives to come! Let us know your thoughts and suggestions and please share!
